COVID-19

Please note that the ex-staff meal arranged for 18th March has been cancelled. The next meal is scheduled for 16th September.


At this time the Staff Reunion for 18th July is still going ahead. However we will liaise with the venue and update everyone with any news as soon as we can. 


Until the current situation improves no further talks or lectures to groups will take place.

MARITIME RADIO DAY 2020

GKA will be represented in this annual radio amateur event, held on 14th/15th April 2020

Larry G4HLN will be operating GB0GKB

Ken GW3VVL will also be participating.


Hopefully radio conditions will be better than the last couple of years.

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LONG-RANGE MARITIME RADIO SERVICE

COMMEMORATING 100 YEARS: 1920 - 2020

2020 sees 100 years since the long-range maritime radio service commenced in the UK from Devizes Radio, which opened in 1920.


Many events are planned including:


  • Book about the history of the service - due for publication July 2020
  • Staff reunion
  • Illustrated talks to amateur radio clubs and local history groups
  • Exhibition and booksigning in Burnham-on-Sea
  • Special amateur radio callsigns (GB0GKU now confirmed) for July
  • Magazine and press articles
  • Lecture at the 2020 RSGB National Convention
  • Other events to be confirmed
